We got very busy as the school year wrapped up. There was always something to do- some music class performance or end of year party.
We did catch a few minutes to just relax. At 6 weeks, Bea still slept in the midst of the craziness. And her big sister was very protective.
Looks like someone is growing out of her newborn clothes!
The kids (Georgie especially) love to sleep on the floor. After debate about what we'd do with the four kids once Bea left our room, they decided to make everyone fit in one bed. Look close- all four are in there.
They were disappointed Bea didn't get to stay, but they really did all sleep in the bottom bunk. I'm not really sure how. There are also about 500 stuffed animals in there too.
Meanwhile, tiny Bea is still looking like a grumpy Winston Churchill.
She is starting to fatten up!
This afternoon Henry took his post talking to his littlest sister after she woke up from a nap on the floor.
For Memorial Day, we grilled brats and hot dogs with our French friends. The main purpose was to make them s'mores on the campfire, which they'd never had. There's nothing more American than that!
Except maybe these two girls face deep in watermelon!
One step closer- we've got a tile backsplash!
I seriously spent more time obsessing over tile that I did on making any decisions for the rest of the kitchen combined. We finally decided to have tiles hand-painted and sent in from India. (It was our one splurge.)
And I'm so glad we did, even if it did stall the kitchen finish date by two weeks.
These blocks have been the center of Georgie's life for the entire month of May. Periodically, I say yes to a request to play with the kids. We started out spending some time building "houses" out of blocks. This turned into a daily ritual, which was fun, but also exhausting, because Jo is a tiny tyrant with a specific vision. And you may not leave until every block is used and every Squinkie has found a home inside the house's nooks and crannies.
More loving attention for their little sister.
Actually sleeping in her little bed! She does make it there periodically.
Be sure to keep a rag under her at all times. She's still quite the barfer.
May 30th- 6 weeks after we started (but really with only 3 weeks of solid working)- the kitchen is done! We installed our fun backsplash amid our practical and hopefully not-too-trendy cabinets and figured that paint was also easy to change. So why not do something fun.
And we do live in Clemson, so of course, it had to be orange. We really do love how it ties our gold dining room and new tile together.
Finally, to end May, June has been asking forever to do a sewing project. With the kitchen mess put away, and me fially waking up from a year of sleeping, we were finally able to dig out the sewing machine. From June's artistic rendering, this is Pipluck,
