May 17-18.

We were so excited when our favorite North Carolinians came down to meet baby Bea! Grace and Audrey were very excited we had another girl.

And Miss Becky was happy to have a little baby to squeeze on.

Though Bea was a little sleepy.  And limp.

 (How embarrassing.)
We also celebrated Brandon's birthday!  I made biscuits and gravy.  The kids celebrated by playing by themselves for the whole weekend.  Seriously.  After almost 6 years of being friends, the kids finally can entertain themselves and a weekend together doesn't end in total exhaustion!

What a great bunch.

Even if they won't take a good picture.

After the Paytons headed for home, Georgie and I got down to mixing up a cake for papa.  That's cherry pie filling in the batter- delicious.

June made a special birthday mesage- I like you.

Georgie drew rainbows and wrote the letters P A P A in some order all over the paper (and then colored them in).

She also drew this very accurate artistic rendering of papa.  So much hair.

June made another sign of legos- "Dad!"  Henry wrote a nice letter.

Then we took up our posts for a nap.

It's not a Brookwood birthday without an impromptu cake party!

Papa had lots of help to blow out his candles!

All six of us!

And one wacky neighbor.

After that party wrapped up, we all headed upstairs for a much needed bath.  The girls finished theirs early and headed downstairs to play while we cleaned up upstairs.  Little did we know, the kitchen and the cake we in the midst of destruction.  I assumed it started with an innocent finger of frosting.

But it quickly evolved into June and Georgie shoveling handfuls of cake into their recently clean mouths and hair.  I would have taken pictures, but I was too busy trying not to laugh.  The girls had to clean each other up and then wipe off all of the kitchen cabinets, which apparently were used in place of napkins.
