We rose (sort of) bright and early for our long trek to Ohio. (Okay, we stayed up until 2 am packing and didn't leave until 10am.)
This is what a 5 week vacation with 4 kids looks like. Actually, it's just as much stuff as you'd need for 3 days. You just plan to do more laundry.
Things were pretty awesome. We took route 23, which has been newly widened and made it seem a little less tedious to travel north. (Plus, I scored an Ale-8-One in Kentucky!)
Besides some rain, we enjoyed open roads and well behaved kids. They all had their books, lovies, ad various electronics. Bea only cried for about 20 minutes during the entire 12 hour trip. It helps to have Henry beside her so he can entertain her and replace her nuk.
Here's Brandon's hair as of late June. It's so long her has to hold it back with a headband.
Finally! Ohio! And a quick drive through Brandon's birthplace of Portmouth and Wheelersburg.
June only remembers living int he south- a hilly place full of mountains and dense forests. So coming back to Ohio and open fields is very exotic. We stopped to let Georgie pee (way easier on the side of the road, especially since she's decided she's TERRIFIED of automatic toilets and throughs a holy fit when she sees one). June jumped out of the car and had a Sound of Music/Little House on the Prairie moment.
The grass is literally greener in Ohio for June.
We received another treat in Southern Ohio when we found a Rax! Who knew they still existed? Good thing we had a smart phone, because we were able to determine that this once prolific brand (at least in Ohio in the 80's) now still has 11 open locations, mostly in southern Ohio.
